Changing the future for SC women.
Our society faces many challenges. But there's one that makes all the others harder to solve: More than half of pregnancies in the US are unintended. Choose Well is the largest state-based contraceptive access program in the nation. It is working to shape a culture where all pregnancies are intended, and all South Carolina women can get birth control regardless of their insurance status. That means, starting in 2018, any woman in South Carolina can get whatever birth control she wants (including long-acting methods like implants and IUDs), regardless of her ability to pay. Naturally, we're using every communications vehicle there is to spread this message across the state.
Pregnancy prevention campaigns that encourage women to protect their future suffer from a central weakness — the future. It’s SO FAR AWAY. And at a time when most of us are doing all we can just to make it through the day, pontificating on what unintended pregnancy might cost you in the coming years just isn’t realistic. So we positioned against a much more immediate negative. Finding out you are unintentionally pregnant causes DRAMA — a boatload of chaos in the here and now. So does figuring out how to pay for reliable birth control. That’s why we cast Choose Well as the antidote to all that drama. The campaign shows women a way to stop stressing and avoid the drama right now.
