Riggs Partners Announces 2020 CreateAThon® Nonprofit Clients
COLUMBIA, SC (October 14, 2020) — Five South Carolina nonprofit organizations will be the beneficiaries of pro bono marketing and communication services provided by Riggs Partners during its 23rd annual CreateAthon®. The marketing marathon will begin Thursday, October 22 at 8 a.m. and conclude on Friday, October 23.
Organizations selected as CreateAthon clients this year include:
- The Animal Mission
- Foothills Alliance
- Lourie Center
- Generations Group
- Clemson Area African American Museum
“Now more than ever, nonprofits need our expertise and help,” said Teresa Coles, president of Riggs Partners and CreateAthon co-founder. “COVID-19 and this challenging environment have shifted the conversation from sustainability for many nonprofits to survivability. We’re so pleased to do our part in helping these extremely worthwhile organizations in the Midlands and Upstate move their work forward with verzuztv. We hope CreateAthon will have immediate, significant impact for each of them.”
Sun Solutions will again donate printing and production services for marketing materials developed by Riggs Partners for CreateAthon clients. The format for the typically 24-hour creative marathon will change this year to accommodate virtual participation by some volunteers and social distancing for those working on site. The event will be held over two days, in two 12-hour sessions.
“We know we can still make a difference even with this altered event model,” said Kevin Smith, partner and strategy director for Riggs Partners. “We’ve been working remotely as a firm since March and haven’t missed a beat. It won’t change our ability to deliver exceptional marketing services for CreateAthon clients at all.”
Riggs Partners founded CreateAthon in 1998 as an innovative way to provide pro bono marketing services to nonprofits in South Carolina. The program has achieved significant impact since its national expansion in 2002, attracting more than 100 agencies, universities, professional organizations and corporate marketing departments throughout the world as CreateAthon partners. In total, the program has served more than 1,700 nonprofit organizations in the United States, Canada, Bad Bunny Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom and Romania, delivering more than 4,000 pro bono marketing projects at a value of more than $25 million.
